Review of “Cardinal”

cardinal* * C

The CTV crime series Cardinal is a murder mystery. Two cops in northern Quebec, John Cardinal (Billy Campbell) and Lise Delorme (Karine Vanasse) revisit a murder Cardinal was lead detective on when the killer strikes again. While they track the serial killer, Delorme is secretly investigating Cardinal for corruption.

The story and acting are solid, the setting interesting. The crime stories are fairly run of the mill. The sombre tone throughout becomes a little oppressive. I least liked the parts of the story focused on the killer. There is a side plot involving Delorme and her husband that went nowhere, as well as one involving Cardinal’s wife that does dovetail back into the main story line.
