The Cost of Dedication

“Talent is cheap; dedication is expensive. It will cost you your life.”the-great-cost-of-discipleship
― Irving Stone

Becoming a spiritual person who is ready to enter the Kingdom of Heaven on earth is not an easy undertaking. There are sacrifices to be made. For example, when a scribe told Jesus that he would follow him wherever he went, Jesus said to him:

Foxes have holes, and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.

When one of his disciples asked to be given time to go and bury his dead father, Jesus was unbending, saying:

Follow me, and let the dead bury their dead.

Jesus is unwilling to wait, knowing that life is short. From his point of view, people who are not helping to bring about the Kingdom of Heaven are dead.
