A House Divided

When the Pharisees said that Jesus cast out devils by the power house-dividedBeelzebub the prince of the devils, Jesus offered three refutations:

Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to ruin, and a house divided against itself cannot stand. If a devil casts out devils, Satan is divided against himself; how then can his kingdom stand? If you say I cast out devils by the power of Beelzebub, by whose power do your people cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges. How could anyone enter a strong man’s house and cast him out, if he did not first bind the man?

Having shown them their error, he then challenged their disbelief in his message:

But if I cast out devils by power of the Spirit, then the kingdom of heaven has arrived. He who is not with me is against me; and he that does not follow me will be scattered abroad.

What does Jesus mean by “scattered abroad”? He means cast out of the kingdom of heaven. The act of falsely accusing someone who you disagree with marks you as someone who isn’t ready to enter the kingdom.
