Review of “American Ultra”

* * * B

American Ultra is part stoner movie, part Bourne Identitamerican-ultray. When the acting CIA director (Topher “Venom” Grace) decides to terminate sleeper agent Mike Howell (Jesse “Zuckerberg” Eisenberg) his creator (Connie Briton from American Horror Story) activates him. Mayhem ensues for Mike and his stoner girlfriend Phoebe Larson (Kirsten “Bella” Stewart) as Yates unleashes his own agents on them.

Both Eisenberg and Stewart pull off their characters nicely. The film claims to be a comedy, but I found it closer to The Kingsmen than Johnny English. Good fun.
