Review of “Gone Girl”

**** A

I don’t often give a film four star rating. This mystery/thriller is one of the best in the genre. Ben Affleck gives a solid performance as Nick, the husband of Amy, who disappears, apparently abducted. Rosumund Pike is stellar in the biggest role of her career as Amy, who narrates the back story that leads up to the abduction. The plot is intricate, with lots of twists and turns, and the pressure builds steadily to a disturbing climax that will stay with me for a while. Good supporting cast, especially Carrie Coon as Nick’s sister Margo, and Tyler Perry as attorney Tanner Bolt.
